Nacho Gómara, from the Verduarte restaurant, in the Baluarte palace in Pamplona, has received the award for the best chef of 2024 in the third edition of the Gastronomika Talent Navarra awards, aimed at professionals under 40 years of age.
The chef has also received the award for the best treatment of vegetables at the gala held this Tuesday at the La Hacienda de Mutilva restaurant. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Rebeca Esnaola, was there.
The Pamplona native Joanna Artieda has also received the Excellence Navarra award after being named Best Pastry Chef in the World 2024 by the International French Academy of Gastronomy.

Best grill chef award: Walter Castejón, from Casa Perico (Larraga).
Best sustainable restaurant award: Anais Campo, from Halconeras de Sancho IV (Funes).
Award for the best treatment of vegetables: Nacho Gómara, from the Verduarte restaurant (Pamplona).
Award for the best service in the dining room: Iñaki Pla, from the Verduarte restaurant (Pamplona).
Award for the best pinchos bar: Isaac Álvarez and Jaizkibel Zunbzarren, from the Ulzama bar (Pamplona).
Award for the best sommelier: Beatriz López, from the Reyna de Copas wine bar (Olite).
Award for the best product treatment: Joel Ribera, from Pan de Arguiñariz (Arguiñariz).
Award for the best entrepreneurial talent: Iñaki Andradas and Luken Vigo, from the Baserriberri restaurant (Pamplona).
Award for the best project: Silvia Lázaro, from Granja el Moro (Figarol).
Award for the best chef: Nacho Gómara, from the Verduarte restaurant (Pamplona).
Navarra Excellence Award: Joanna Artieda.
The award winners will also participate in the San Sebastián Gastronomika congress, which will be held from 7 to 9 October.
The councillor Rebeca Esnaola spoke at this gala to highlight that this event “confirms that Navarrese gastronomy is not only in good health at present”, but also in the future through the new generations. After highlighting that gastronomy is “a key sector for our land”, the councillor said the importance of seasonal products and sustainable agriculture in Navarre.
Gastronomy is “one of the main tourist attractions” of Navarre, said Esnaola, who declared that “tourism chooses us in search of that essence that characterises us so much”.
“We need you as travelling companions”, said the councillor to the representatives of the gastronomic sector gathered at this gala.
